Are You Playing it Too Safe with Your Style?

How many of us reach for the same safe outfits day after day? We have all fallen into the ‘comfort zone’ trap — wearing what’s easy, what we know, and what feels safe. But guess what? Safe often means boring. And boring doesn’t always reflect the amazing, confident person you are inside!

When we stick to safe, we’re not pushing ourselves to show up as the best version of ourselves. And that can affect how we feel — less confident, less adventurous, less YOU.

Breaking out of the comfort zone doesn’t mean ditching comfort altogether — it means redefining it. Here are some tips on HOW to rediscover your style:

  1. Find one ‘safe’ item and pair it with something new or bold. The SAFE items are basic, versatile pieces that are simple and neutral. The idea is that this piece can serve as a solid foundation without drawing too much attention on its own. Now, you want to add something that reflects YOU. The key to balancing the safe item with the bold one is to make sure the overall look feels cohesive. For example: If your bold piece is a colourful jacket pair it with a basic t-shirt and jeans.

2. Experiment with accessories.  Accessories are the easiest way to add personality to your outfit. They can help tie the whole look together. Opt for statement earrings, a cool watch, or bold sunglasses that don’t compete with your look but still give your outfit an extra edge. By pairing a simple item with one bold piece, you can create a look that feels fresh, balanced, and sophisticated without compromising on comfort.

3. Take inspiration from others, but make it your own! Before diving into places like Pinterest and Instagram, have a clear understanding of your own style. Think about the clothes that make you feel confident and comfortable. When you browse for inspiration, don’t try to copy a look exactly. Instead, look for elements that you can incorporate into your own wardrobe. One outfit may look great on others, but they might not fit your lifestyle. For example, you might see someone wearing heels with every outfit, try swapping out the heels for a pair of chic slides.

With these tips, you can confidently experiment with fashion, add playful elements, and stay practical without feeling like you’re sacrificing style or comfort!
