Are Your Clothes Ageing You?

Let’s talk about something that so many of us worry about but rarely know how to fix… Are Your Clothes Aging You?

I know that for busy mums, the goal isn’t to look 20 again! We want to look current and age-appropriate but still modern and stylish. To feel like the best version of ourselves — confident, vibrant, and put-together without a complete wardrobe overhaul!

We have all caught a glimpse of ourselves in the mirror and thought, ‘Why do I look so tired?’ The answer? Sometimes it’s not just about rest—it could be what you’re wearing. The cuts, fits, and colours you choose can make all the difference between looking vibrant and feeling dull.

Let’s explore some style mistakes that could be adding years to your look!

Outdated Cuts – Wearing outdated cuts can immediately make us look older than we are. Opt for classic but modern cuts that fit your shape—think high-rise jeans that accentuate your waist or blazers with a bit of shape.

Poor Fit – A poor fit is another huge culprit. When clothes are too tight, they highlight areas you might not want to, and when they are too loose, they can make you look frumpy. Aim for well-tailored pieces or even consider alterations; it’s amazing how a little nip and tuck can make clothes look like they’re made for you!

Ignoring Accessories – Outdated or heavy accessories can pull down your look. Instead, try simple, modern pieces that add polish without overpowering your outfit. Even something as subtle as earrings that suit your face shape can lift your entire look.

Now let’s talk COLOUR. The right colours can be like an instant facelift, no fancy skincare or filters required! Wearing colours that don’t suit your skin tone can make you look washed out or highlight fine lines. But when you wear colours that complement your complexion, it’s like adding a natural glow.

IDENTIFY YOUR UNDERTONE – The first step is knowing your undertone. Are you warm, cool, or neutral? For example, if you have warm undertones, earthy tones like olive, warm reds, and golds will bring out that warmth, making you look healthier and more vibrant. Cool undertones tend to pop in blues, greens, and cool reds.

EXPERIMENT – If you’re unsure about your undertone, try experimenting with small pops of colour, like a scarf or earrings, and see how your skin reacts. You’ll notice that the right colours make your skin look fresher, while the wrong ones can emphasise shadows and make you look tired.

SEASONAL COLOUR PALETTE – A Seasonal Colour Palette tailored to your unique tones can be transformative. Every colour in your closet will make you look and feel your best!
