Do you find it tricky to layer? Well this is a must read if you do. I have shared this with North Shore Mums (link at the bottom) and now you can use this info too!
Start with a smart base layer
For a streamlined but layered look, start with a base layer using a lightweight fabric (such as jersey.)
For example, a fab base layer is a basic white t-shirt (such as this one from Witchery).
Use specially designed fabrics where you can
Wear fabrics that generate or keep warmth in, such as a good quality merino wool or cashmere. These Heattec undergarments from Uniqlo ($24.90) are another great option, made from bio-warming fabric which generates heat in a lightweight layer. Revolutionary technology converts your own body moisture into heat, keeping you comfy without bulk.
The outer layer: Keep it simple!
Keep outer layers choices chunkier, such as jackets and coats. Stick to using just one chunkier-style fabric option to avoid looking bulky. I love a really soft leather jacket, this one from Marcs (the Lani Felted Wool Jacket) is gorgeous. While it’s an investment at $299.95, it’s the kind of classic that will serve you in many years to come.
Next stop: Accessories!
Embrace accessories for style, but remember that they’re also part of keeping yourself warm! Options like snuggly scarves, beanies, wool felt hats, wool socks and leather gloves are all fab wardrobe essentials that will keep you cosy.
Legging it!
Don’t forget to keep those pins cosy! Keep warm with ponte pants instead of leggings. Ponte is a thicker stretch fabric similar to legging fabric but warmer. These slim pinch stitch trousers from Witchery are one of my favourites!
See what you have at home, have a play around, and you will come up with so many outfit options! And who doesn’t love more options?
