Sass & Bide presented it’s resort ’18 collection, ‘Fiesta Barcelona’ on the runway of this years Mercedes- Benz fashion week.
Barcelona is one of my favourite cities so I couldn’t wait to see what Sass & Bide had in- store!
Drawing inspiration from the bustling city of Barcelona’s culture, in particular the famous building, Casa Batllo, designed by the renowned artist Gaudi, Sass & Bide put on a show to remember.
If you have ever been to Barcelona then you would have seen the amazing masterpiece building, Casa Batlo. The locals like to call it ‘House of Bones’. It features a skeletal, organic quality with mosaic tiles and mirrors, and limited straight lines. The roof is arched like a back bone of an animal with large iridescent scales. You can imagine how magnificent this 32m high building is as it stands right in the heart of Barcelona.
Here is a summary of the designs and colours featured in the show to keep all you inspired.
-
Bold Shimmering fabrics
-
Silhouette outlines of a new femininity symmetry- Striking, elegant and strong
-
High nipped in waists
-
Skirts that fan out
-
Pants that are fluid
-
Shoulders which are curved in various iterations from soft feminine to moulded and contoured, taking inspiration from Gauid’s pristine arches
-
Often both embellishments and simplicity are spliced into the same piece to form an unexpected duality
Colours that were featured included:
-
The burnished sun colours of fiesta and sunset orange which evoke hot summer nights
-
Celeste blue and iridescent metallics which are inspired by the scaled mosaic and tiled roof of Casa Batllo
-
Ivory & black from a serene foil to this bold, simmering street life
